Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing!
There is an old Motown song that says, "Ain't nothing like the real thing, baby." And honestly? That might be some of the best theology I've heard on the radio!
We live in a digital age where we can simulate almost anything. You can tour the Louvre in Paris from your living room sofa. You can watch a concert on a 4K screen. You can FaceTime a friend across the ocean.
But let's be real: Seeing a picture of a steak dinner isn't the same as tasting it. Watching a fire on a screen isn't the same as feeling its warmth.
There is a difference between knowing about God and experiencing God.
Too many Christians are satisfied with the "menu" instead of the "meal." They have the theology, they have the podcasts, and they have the routines—but they are missing the encounter. They are settling for a shadow when the Substance is standing right in front of them!
King David didn't just want us to study the Lord; he wanted us to experience Him.
"Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!"
Notice the sensory language? Taste. See.
God is not a theory to be debated; He is a Person to be engaged! When the Holy Spirit moves, it isn't a simulation. The peace that surpasses understanding is real. The joy that strengthens us is real. The healing that flows in His presence is real.
There ain't nothing like the real thing.
This week, I challenge you: Don't just read the menu. Sit down at the table. Don't just talk about prayer; get in your secret place until you feel the atmosphere shift.
We serve a living God who wants to meet with you for real.
